Google Pixel and Pixel 2 are still considered one of the best cameras on smartphones. Keep in mind that now we live in one word, where smartphones have from 2 to 3 camera sensors in one module. Google Pixel 2 still has only one. What other smartphones achieve with several sensors, smartphones Google can work with one sensor. The credit for this is to go to Google’s exclusive image processing software, which is included in the Google Camera application. Unsurprisingly, the developer community showed great interest in moving the Google Camera application to other devices. The Google Pixel 2 camera port for Xiaomi Redmi 5A is presented to us.
However, this is not the first Google Camera port for other devices. Earlier we saw the Google Pixel 2 camera port for other Pixel and Nexus devices and even Essential Phone. The Google Pixel 2 port for Xiaomi Redmi 5A should theoretically work with any other devices running on the Snapdragon 400 processor. These include Snapdragon 430, Snapdragon 435 and Snapdragon 450. Many of the features of Google Camera seem to work, including bokeh effects on the front camera and a portrait effect on the back of the camera.

Bugs & Errors:
As with most Google Camera ports, there are a few errors. To make the Google Camera work on Redmi 5A, you need to enable the Camera2 API. However, when this is enabled, the MIUI camera ceases to function. Thus, you will basically trade the MIUI camera in the warehouse for the Google camera. In this case, another error may be the interruption of the transaction. At least on Redmi 5A video recording does not work in Google Camera. What You Need:
- Unlocked bootloader
- TWRP recovery
- The device must be rooted with Magisk
- File explorer with root capabilities and a text editor or a build.prop editor.
- Enable Unknown sources in Settings > Additional settings > Privacy

Step 1: Go to the / system/folder and scroll down. Here you will find the build. prop file, which we need to edit.
Step 2: In the build.prop file, just add the following line to the end of the file, save and exit the file, and then reboot the device.
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
Step 3: Download the GCMod apk from the download section above.
Step 4: Click on the download notification after the download is completed and install apk, like any regular apk.
Step 5: After installation, go to the settings of the GCMod.
Step 6: Here, configure the HDR + configuration camera and the Nexus 5X model. Scroll down and enable HDR + Control in the Advanced Settings section.
Step 7: Reboot the device. When your device turns back on, you can use the Google Camera functions that work.
